What is the Investigator Databank?
A collaboration among pharmaceutical companies to share their experience with investigators. It began with a few large sponsors, launched its data platform in 2012, and has evolved into a consortium of nearly 20 members through IQVIA's Data Query System (IQVIA). By 2014, with Novartis, Janssen, Merck, Lilly, and Pfizer as members, it covered nearly 180,000 investigators and 50,000 sites (Pfizer).
What is shared?
- Investigator and site contact details and GCP training records (Pfizer).
- Past trial participation and recruitment history.
- Performance metrics such as enrollment rates and startup times (IQVIA).
Members report benefits like an average ninefold increase in investigators available for feasibility, and faster recruitment through better matching (Investigator Databank). Sponsors increasingly prefer actual site level data over public study level averages (Applied Clinical Trials).
Can you see your own record?
Yes. Investigators can access the Investigator Databank at investigatordatabank.org to view the data held on them and their site, comment on their study history, and upload training certificates and CVs that member companies recognize (Pfizer).
What should you do about it?
- Have each investigator review and correct their profile.
- Add context to weak studies, such as a protocol amendment that paused enrollment.
- Keep certificates and CVs current there, so startup goes faster.
- Treat every study as a permanent entry in your record.
How do you build a record that wins studies?
Enroll well, consistently. The metric sponsors weigh most is enrollment against target, and the sites with strong records are the ones with reliable patient sources outside their own walls. See sponsor scorecards.
Get your study in front of the right local physicians
TrialNotice builds a physician referral pipeline around one active study. We identify relevant local physicians within driving distance of your site, send study aligned direct mail, follow up by email and LinkedIn, track engagement with recipient level QR codes, and route warm responses into your site team's workflow.
